The first of five planned release candidates for version 3.5 of the Eclipse software development platform has been released. The release candidate status means that no more features will be added and that each release will only focus on fixing bugs. Eclipse 3.5 RC1 includes over 300 bug fixes. The final version of the integrated development environment is expected to be available on the 23rd of June.

Meanwhile, milestone 7 of the coordinated Galileo Simultaneous Release, which includes the Eclipse Platform as well as about 25 Eclipse projects, has been released for testing. Galileo, the code name for the Eclipse 3.5 platform Simultaneous Release, is expected to be released on the 26th of June. As with previous releases, it's named after one of Jupiter's moons.

More details about the Eclipse release candidate can be found in the Build Notes. Eclipse 3.5 RC1 is available to download.
