The Mozilla Firefox developers plan to launch a "Build Your Own Browser" programme alongside the release of Firefox 3.5. The project is primarily aimed at PC manufacturers, ISPs and publishers which would like to be able to supply a version of Firefox with their own corporate design trimmings. The system, created as a web application, will allow a company to log-in and pre-specify the customisations it would like applied to its new version. This can include bookmarks and other settings.

The system should also allow for a Mozilla Persona, which can include corporate logos as an overlay on the user interface, to also be preselected. Once customisation is complete, the system will generate an installation program which can be distributed to users.

Other potential users of the programme could include enterprises which would like an easily installable custom browser for use within their organisation. Some observers have suggested that the "Build Your Own Browser" programme is designed to compete with Microsoft's IEAK.
