Dual-boot PengPod tablet successfully crowdfunded

Peacock Imports has successfully funded the planned development and production of two low cost tablets and a small form factor computer on Indiegogo. The company, which hoped to raise $49,000, managed to raise $72,707 to build and deliver their PengPod devices. All three devices are supposed to be able to be dual-booted with Android 4.0 and Linux.

The two PengPod tablets are planned as a 7" and 10" model, expected to sell for $100 and $160 respectively. The PengStick mini computer bears is very similar to the MK802 device that appeared on the market in May; the MK802 could be purchased directly from a Chinese manufacturer. The PengStick is planned to be sold for $110 and can be connected to a monitor via an HDMI port. All three devices are powered by an Allwinner A10 SoC (System on a Chip) which is based on a single-core ARM Cortex A8 clocked at 1.5GHz and an OpenGL 2.0 ES compatible graphics unit.

All of the devices are planned to be delivered by January 2013 and are able to run Android 4.0 and an Ubuntu-based Linux distribution from Linaro. The company is currently still working on hardware support for Linux with the tablet hardware as the camera, accelerometer and the home button are not working correctly.
