Documentary about Netscape released from copyright

Between March 1998 and April 1999, an independent documentary team followed Netscape and its employees as the company open sourced its web browser. The documentary they produced, Code Rush, also follows the acquisition of the browser division by AOL after battling with Microsoft's release of a free web browser. Originally shown on the US channel PBS in 2000, the documentary makers have now released the film from copyright hoping that people, such as film makers and teachers, will find the footage useful and that any edits of it will be released onto the web.

The makers also plan to get their hands on a digital beta deck so that within a couple of months they can digitise and release over one hundred hours of unused footage from the documentary. The movie is available to download on the ClickMovement.org art collaboration site which appears to be a work in progress.
