At this year's main WorldHostingDays event, currently taking place in Germany, Dell announced a partnership with Canonical to provide and support OpenStack-based clouds with Ubuntu. According to Canonical's Martin Stadtler, the new Dell OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution will run on the upcoming server release of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin", scheduled to arrive on 26 April "with the latest Linux and OpenStack technologies". Stadtler says that users of Dell's Infrastructure-as-a-Service solution will receive enterprise-level support for their clouds through Canonical's Ubuntu Advantage support programme.

Launched in July 2010 by Rackspace and NASA, OpenStack is an open source software platform for creating highly scalable and easy-to-implement public and private clouds. OpenStack Core Projects include the Compute (Nova), Object Storage (Swift) and Image Service (Glance) projects.

Further information can be found on the Dell OpenStack-Powered Cloud Solution and Canonical's Ubuntu Advantage web pages.
