Debian elects new project leader
Steve McIntyre is the new Debian project leader. He defeated two other candidates and will take the helm of the Linux distribution on 17th April. The project election used the Schulze method as its voting procedure, in which voters do not simply submit a single vote for their favoured candidate, but express preferences for all the candidates.
McIntyre will replace Sam Hocevar, who chose not to campaign for re-election this time around. 1075 Debian developers took part in the process. The next Debian release, version 5.0 – Lemmy, is planned for September this year.
