Book cover

The French reference handbook covering Debian system administration, written by Raphaël Hertzog and Roland Mas, has been translated into English and released as The Debian Administrator's Handbook. The book teaches the essentials of Debian system administration while trying to be as accessible as possible.

The translation of the book was accomplished by the authors themselves, with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign that raised €24,640 (£19,781) last year. The book is open source and is available free of charge as an ebook and in PDF form, and as a physical book from the print-on-demand service Lulu. It is licensed under the Creative Commons BY-SA 3.0 licence and the authors are encouraging readers to submit improvements and fixes. Readers can also voluntarily donate to the project when downloading the ebook to enable the project to make further improvements.
