Debian logo The Debian Project has announced that its fourteenth annual DebConf developer conference will take place in the Swiss municipality of Vaumarcus.

The organisers of the event, also known as DebConf13, decided to selected Vaumarcus over the Latvian capital Riga following a discussion in an online virtual meeting. While Riga was considered to be more affordable than Vaumarcus, which had a higher preliminary budget of €175,000, they opted for the Swiss city as it offered "a stronger, maturer, more experienced local team".

This year's upcoming DebConf12 event will take place from 8 to 14 July 2012 in Managua, the capital of Nicaragua in Central America. As with other DebConf conferences, it will include various coding parties, discussions and workshops, as well as a smaller less formal event called Debian Camp (DebCamp) prior to the main event.

Further details about the conference will be added to the DebConf13 wiki page when available.
