DebConf12 The Debian Project has announced that registration is now open for its twelfth annual DebConf developer conference. Known as DebConf12, the event will take place from 8 to 14 July 2012 in Managua, Nicaragua at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center – the conference will be preceded by Debian Camp (DebCamp) from 1 to 7 July, a smaller, less formal event aimed at Debian development teams such as debian-installer and debian-edu.

As in previous years, there are three different registration options: Sponsored, Professional and Corporate. The Sponsored category is for those who aren't able to pay for their own travel to DebConf and who will be helped directly by the Debian Project, while the Professional category is for any individual or company and costs $650 (€500). The Corporate category is for individuals representing companies at the event and is priced at $1,300 (€1,000). Detailed information on how to register can be found in the DebConf team's registration mailing list announcement.

The organisers of the event have also opened the call for papers, and are seeking proposals for papers, presentations, discussion sessions and tutorials. They note that these are not limited to traditional talks; attendees can also propose "a performance, art installation, debate, or anything else". All proposals must be submitted by 23:59 UTC on 1 June 2012.

Further information about the event can be found on the DebConf12 Wiki page and the official DebConf12 web site.
