Debconf11 logo The organisers of DebConf11, the annual Debian developers conference, have issued a call for papers for the event which runs from 24 July to 30 July 2011 in Banja Luka in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Submission of formal written papers for the conference proceedings is optional, but encouraged, as it assists those who find it hard to follow rapid English speech. Presentations will be broadcast on the internet, live where possible or using recordings if not, along with slides and papers. Talk formats can include the common lecture or open discussion but can be performance, art installation, debate "or anything else". Subjects for the talks are also similarly open ended. The organisers will arrange the talks into themed tracks later, but positions for "track coordinators" are also open.

The deadline for official submissions is 8 May 2011, but the organisers say they will accept submissions right up until the end of the conference itself, allowing attendees to "schedule ad-hoc events" during the conference, though these ad-hoc events have "a much lower chance" of being archived on video or included in the proceedings. Promising late submissions may also be considered for official inclusion.
