Dalvik Turbo offers speedier Android applications

At the Mobile World Congress, in Barcelona next week, Swiss company Myriad AG will show Dalvik Turbo, a virtual machine for Android which is claimed to be three times faster than Dalvik. The company says that Dalvik Turbo doesn't significantly increase the memory requirements for Android devices.

The Dalvik Turbo virtual machine is designed to replace the existing Dalvik virtual machine and Myriad claims that it is possible to integrate the technology on a new target device in minutes. Dalvik Turbo supports a range of processors including ARM, Intel Atom and MIPS architectures. Myriad has not disclosed its licensing plans or pricing for Dalvik Turbo.
