CodeWeavers has announced the release of version 8.0 of CrossOver for Linux and Mac OS X. The CrossOver products use the open source Windows API implementation Wine to run Windows applications on Linux and Mac OS X operating systems.

The new release adds support for several Windows applications, including Quicken 2009 and Internet Explorer 7. CrossOver 8.0 also includes several performance improvements and bug fixes for Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook, and Apple's QuickTime 7.

More details about the release can be found in the change log on the CodeWeavers website. Trials are available for Mac OS X (Intel-based) and Linux. A full version can be purchased from £25.99.
