Adobe and SpringSource say they are cooperating to combine Rich Internet Application (RIA) techniques like Flash, AIR and PDF with the Spring framework and other SpringSource platforms, with the aim of making it easier for Java developers to develop and use RIAs.

The two firms are working on an open source project called Spring BlazeDS Integration, designed to enable close integration between Spring and Adobe's BlazeDS server-based Java remoting and web messaging technology. A beta version is promised for before Christmas.

A second project, SpringSource Adaptor for Adobe LiveCycle Data Services ES, is planned that is meant to allow the integration of server-based push applications and content using Adobe's free open source framework, Flex, and is expected to bear fruit in the first half of next year.
