Version 5.4 brings Concurrent's real time RedHawk Embedded Linux, which is based on kernel version 2.6.31, bang up to date. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 compatible system supports Intel Nehalem and AMD Opteron processors and the PCI Express 2.0 bus. RedHawk 5.4 can cope with systems with up to 48 cores.

The release also includes new NVIDIA drivers specifically optimised for real-time deployment. According to Concurrent, RedHawk Linux is used by major corporations including aircraft makers Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Airbus and car maker Ford. The US Navy also uses it in its Aegis defence programme.
