Compliance specialist Palamida joins the Linux Foundation

The Linux Foundation has announced that compliance and IP management specialist Palamida has become its newest member. Launched in 2003, Palamida originally focused on licensing issues around open source, but has since has moved into the more general arena of open source application security and services.

According to the Foundation, Palamida will collaborate on and contribute to the new Open Compliance Program. Launched in early August, the new program is an initiative to help companies comply with open source licences through the use of tools, training, self-assessment and a standard format for reporting license information. Discussing the announcement, Palamida CEO Mark Tolliver said, “The blending of open source, proprietary and home grown software has led to an increasingly complex IT environment, one in which compliance and security are top priorities," adding that, “We’re looking forward to collaborating with The Linux Foundation to help companies take advantage of all of today’s software options while navigating compliance and reducing costs.”

The Linux Foundation is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the task of promoting the growth of Linux. Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux, is himself sponsored by the foundation.
