JBoss 5.0's microcontainer architecture
Zoom JBoss 5.0's microcontainer architecture
After 3 years of development, the community edition of JBoss 5.0 has been released with the words "We have been waiting for that day for a long time. Too long certainly". JBoss is a Java based application server and in version 5.0, it has been reworked around the JBoss Microcontainer to manage POJO (Plain Old Java Objects) deployment and to work with JMX (Java Management Extensions).

JBoss 5.0 integrates tightly with other JBoss projects. JBoss EJB3 is included with JBoss 5.0 to simplify development by eschewing older EJB APIs for the new POJO based system. JBoss Messaging is available as a high performance JMS (Java Messaging System) and is the default messaging provider. JBossWS provides the the web services stack, and JBoss Transactions and JBoss Web provide transaction support and an Apache Tomcat based web container. Full details of the changes are available in the release notes and the code is available to download now.
