openSUSE Logo The result of the openSUSE vote on the distribution's future strategy and focus has been announced. According to openSUSE Community Manager Jos Poortvliet, 90 per cent of the more than 200 openSUSE Members who voted are in favour of the current strategy document.

Discussion of a new strategy began approximately two years ago at the first openSUSE Conference. In June of this year, members of the community were asked to vote on that strategy. The strategy, which describes openSUSE as the "most flexible and powerful Linux distribution", calls for a rolling release "to ensure up to date applications for those who wish it" and focuses on the community itself "instead of finding new ways to go".
