Collabora joins the Linux Foundation

Collabora Logo The Linux Foundation has announced that long-time open source contributor Collabora Ltd. has become its newest member. Collabora is globally distributed team of open source software consultants that are also active maintainers and contributors to a variety of open source projects, such as GNOME, KDE and Moblin. The company offers a number of services, including development, consulting, training and project management.

According to the Foundation, the open source development veterans will also contribute to the MeeGo mobile Linux platform. Collabora Ltd. director and co-founder Philippe Kalaf said, “The Linux Foundation provides a home for important projects such as the MeeGo platform,” adding that, “We’re excited to join the Linux Foundation so that we can participate directly in upstream development of the MeeGo platform, attend online and face-to-face meetings and do what we can to invest in the project’s success.”

Other companies that have joined the Linux Foundation in recent weeks include LG, Meyer Sound, Parallels, Ricoh and Linpus Technologies.
