Clutter logo The developers at Intel have announced the availability of Clutter 1.0.0, the open source library for creating animated and rich graphical user interfaces. Clutter, which is licensed under the LGPL 2.1, is the tool kit behind the well received Moblin 2.0 beta user interface. It builds on OpenGL, Cairo and other graphics libraries to allow developers to offer layered, two dimensional interface elements, which can be manipulated in three dimensional space and frame based animations with behaviours, time-line handling paths, transitions and other effects. Version 1.0.0 represents the first stable release of the tool kit, with the major APIs now stabilised.

Clutter runs on Linux, Windows and Mac OS X, and has language bindings for Perl, Python, C#, C++, Vala and Ruby. The Clutter source code is available to download, documentation is available and recent presentations from GUADEC 2009 are available as PDF slides and talk outlines.
