The Celtx developers have released version 2.5 of their open source collaborative media pre-production application. Celtx includes several built in project templates to help users develop their stories and get their ideas from concept to production, using pre-visualisation tools, like storyboards.

In addition to a number of bug fixes, the latest 2.5 release features several new features and updates to the included tools. Revision Mode includes a new toolbar that adds the ability to increment revisions with a single click, edits can now be colour coded and it can also be used to lock scene numbers when editing a script. Users can now lock text so that it cannot be edited, however, the Sidebar will remain active, so Notes and Media can still be added. The addition of a new Sketch tool allows users to add their own drawings to a Project. The tool includes pre-loaded icons for camera, lights and people that can be tagged with text.

Additionally, the developers have added an instant messaging application that is available to all Studio users. Celtx Studios, added in version 2.0, is a set of web services designed to work with Celtx that provides web based access and storage to projects. Collaboration, archiving, and online previews for producers, financiers and others is also included. The online services cost $5 per month for 5 users or $50 per year and each account has a 5 GB storage limit.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes and on the project's overview page. Celtx 2.5 is available to download in ten different languages for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Celtx is released under the version 1.3 of the Celtx Public License (CePL) which consists of the Mozilla Public License (MPL) version 1.2 with additional amendments.
