CeBIT 2011: Free floor space and presentation opportunities for FOSS projects

Free open source software (FOSS) projects can now apply for presentation time and free floor space at the upcoming 2011 CeBIT trade show thanks to a collaboration between Linuxhotel and Germany-based Linux specialist Univention. The scheme, which first began last year, goes by the motto "CeBIT for all" (CeBIT für alle) and the organisations are now seeking applications.

Suggested topics include cloud computing with open source, monitoring, identity and IT service management, Linux clusters and virtualisation solutions, as well as free alternatives to proprietary software. Interested projects can apply via the German-language Call for Papers web page. The deadline for submissions is the 3rd of February.

This year's CeBIT trade show, which will take place from the 1st to the 5th of March on the world's largest fairground in Hannover, Germany, marks the third year in a row that there will be an open source presence at the event – again taking place in Hall 2.

CeBIT, an acronym for "Centrum der Büro- und Informationstechnik", which means "Centre of Office and Information technology", has been held each spring since 1986. It's the world's largest trade fair showcasing the latest in information technology (IT) products and solutions from thousands of companies from all around the globe.
