CeBIT 2010: Nexenta presents unified storage system

Nexenta Systems is presenting the NexentaStor 3.0 unified storage system at CeBIT. NexentaStor 3.0 is is scheduled to become available at the end of March and is based on Nexenta Core. According to the vendor, it is the only solution based on the ZFS file system to offer both block-based and file-based unified storage for virtual machines.

Version 3.0 offers in-line deduplication and supports Hyper V. The optional "VM Data Center" module is a unified interface for managing the storage requirements of Hyper V, Citrix XenServer and VMware platforms. The open sourced versions of Nexenta's platform, a merger of OpenSolaris and Ubuntu are available from nexenta.org where the GPL/CDDL licensed operating system can be downloaded. The company has also announced that Thomas Krenn AG has agreed to be Nexenta Systems' retail partner for Germany.
