Canonical has updated its Ubuntu Business Desktop Remix; the latest version is based on the recently released Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, rather than the Ubuntu 11.10 base of its February debut.

The Business Desktop Remix takes the standard release of Ubuntu, removes consumer applications such as games and social networking tools and adds software for enterprise and business environments. This added software includes VMware View, Adobe's Flash Plugin and the OpenJDK 6 Java runtime. A blog post from Canonical Product Manager Gary Ekker, noted that 12.04 LTS also brings new business-oriented functionality like Windows RDP 7.1 support and the ability to import Visio diagrams in LibreOffice Draw.

The Remix is available to download as 32-bit and 64-bit images from Canonical's Business Desktop Remix page; registration is required as some of the bundled applications, such as VMware View, are provided under a proprietary licence and users must first accept the terms of an end-user licence agreement (EULA). For larger enterprise installations, Canonical recommends the use of its Landscape management tool. The company offers Ubuntu Advantage as a subscription support offering for the Desktop Remix.
