Canonical donates server to KDE Community
The KDE Community has announced that it has received a new server to help it with its "growing needs". In a KDE.news post, developer Jonathan Riddell says that, "lately the servers have been coming under some strain," adding that the new server should help to "ease the situation".
The new server, named "kundong", was donated by Ubuntu sponsor Canonical and is hosted in its data centre in central London. It features 8 CPU cores, 6 GB of RAM and 130 GB of hard disk space – room for additional hard drives is available for when they are needed.
Discussing the news, KDE Sysadmin team member Tom Albers said, "This machine will make it possible to expand the services we provide to KDE contributors even more, combined with the speed and power to improve some of our current services". KDE's TechBase, UserBase and Community wikis will be among the first services to move to the new server.
