Bugzilla Logo.png The Mozilla developers have announced of version 3.4 of the Bugzilla open source bug tracking system used by various projects, including their own. The major release features a new user interface, an improved bug-filing page and easier searching and database management.

The 3.4 release hides user email addresses from logged-out users to prevent Bugzilla users from receiving spam and emails can now be sent in the background while a bug is being updated, resulting in a significant speed improvement for updating bugs. By default Bugzilla 3.4 now hides a majority of the fields to simplify filling in a new bug-filing form and gives users the option to "Show Advanced Fields". The developers advise users upgrading from a previous version to first read the notes on upgrading.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes. Bugzilla 3.4 is available to download and is released under the Mozilla Public License. An online demo is also provided.
