Bordeaux Logo As previously announced earlier this month, the Bordeaux Technology Group has now officially released the first build of its Bordeaux software, version 2.0.10, for OpenIndiana. OpenIndiana being a new fork based on OpenSolaris from the Illumos Foundation that aims to be binary and package compatible with Solaris 11 and Solaris 11 Express. Bordeaux is a GUI configuration manager add-on for Wine that is also available for Linux and BSD. Wine (Wine Is Not an Emulator) is free open source software that allows users to run Windows applications on Linux and Unix by providing its own native replacements for Windows DLLs.

OpenIndiana Logo Bordeaux 2.0.10 for OpenIndiana is based on version 1.2.1 of Wine, the latest stable release from the 8th of October, and addresses a number of issues found in the previous 2.0.8 build. Changes in Bordeaux include the addition of support for version 5.0 of Apple's Safari web browser and various fixes for desktop shortcuts. It also features support for a wide variety of other popular Windows applications, such as Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Google SketchUp and Adobe Photoshop. As 2.0.10 was built on OpenIndiana build 147, build 147 or higher is required. The developers also note that this build "will most likely not work properly on the now defunct OpenSolaris," adding that, "If you still have OpenSolaris installed you should look into upgrading to OpenIndiana ASAP".

Further information about Bordeaux for OpenIndiana can be found in the company's official press release. Bordeaux for OpenIndiana 2.0.10 is available for $25.00 (£15.90) and includes 6 months of upgrades and email support. Documentation is provided. Wine source code is available from SourceForge and is licensed under the LGPL.
