Best Open Source Software Awards 2010
InfoWorld has presented its Bossie (Best Open Source Software) Awards 2010 for the best open source enterprise applications. Awards were presented in four software categories: Applications, application development software, platforms and middleware, and networking software.
Nine programs won awards in InfoWorld's applications category including the OpenBravo ERP software, the SugarCRM CRM solution, the Pentaho Business Intelligence Suite, the Alfresco document management system and the Drupal CMS. The ten best developer tools included Google's Go language, JRuby, the Zend PHP framework, the JQuery and jQTouch JavaScript libraries, a framework for creating iPhone and Android applications using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and such software as the R statistics package and Apache Hadoop.
In the platforms and middleware category, the Bossie awards went to software such as Android, the Nginx web server and the VirtualBox, KVM and OpenVZ virtualisation solutions. The ten best 2010 networking tools included the Hyperic HQ and OpenNMS monitoring solutions, the Vyatta router Linux, the FreeBSD-based FreeNAS network attached storage operating system and Cacti, another monitoring application.
