Bespin logo Mozilla's Bespin project has released, and already updated, the first new version of the cloud based IDE since "rebooting" the project in January. According to the developers the new release, codenamed "Bryce", is still "alpha quality" and lacks a range of planned features such as collaboration, file exploration, "svn" commands and project import/export. It does though have a new plug-in system, the ability to edit plug-ins from within Bespin, new keyboard mapping support and "a myriad of editor changes".

The development has been taking place in the open as "Bespin embedded", versions 0.5 and 0.6, but the 0.7.1 release sees Bespin's code base reunified. The reboot of the project was aimed at refactoring the code base so that it was more amenable for the implementation of planned features this year. The developers have already begun updating the Bespin server code; Bespin 0.7.2 came out a few days later with bug fixes that fixed login problems and other issues.
