Aaron Bockover, who lead the development of the Mono-based and MIT licensed Banshee media player, has left Novell. In an announcement on his blog, he said that he had not been too technically involved with the project over the last year; the last thing he had "developed to production" was the Amazon MP3 store integration, which raises money for the GNOME foundation through referral payments.

Most recently he had been working more on SUSE Moblin and later SUSE MeeGo distributions, but had an opportunity to work at music streaming startup Rdio, a service he already uses. Bockover intends to continue to work on Banshee "as an application and community" and is looking forward to spending more time working on the Banshee project.
