Bangarang Logo The Bangarang developers have announced the availability of version 1.0 of their media player for KDE, code named “The Basics”. According to the developers, the milestone release has the simple goal of being "just a media player that plays your media".

The Bangarang media player features a low key user interface for media playback, a simple media library for users to browse and categorise their content with a built-in search function, and supports file rating and play count tracking. The developers note that, as the name of the release implies, version 1.0 of Bangarang is "focused on a basic feature set" and they ask that users report any problems that they encounter.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes and the official release announcement. Bangarang 1.0 is available to download and requires KDE SC 4.3 or later. Bangarang source code is maintained on Gitorious and is released under version 3 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv3).
