Qpid logo Version 0.10 of Apache's AMQP (Advanced Message Queuing Protocol) project Qpid has been announced. AMQP is an open standard for Enterprise Messaging designed to support a wide range of applications; it provides flexible routing allowing for point-to-point, fanout, publish-subscribe and request-response patterns. Qpid is Apache's implementation of the AMQP standard with brokers implemented in Java and C++ and client APIs for Java (JMS 1.1), C++ on Linux and Windows, C# in .NET, Windows WCF, Python and Ruby. There are also management APIs in Python and C++ with Python tools and JMX.

Release 0.10 sees a number of feature enhancements: the C++ broker now supports message queuing with priority ordering which makes it possible for messages to be handled by priority rather than on a FIFO basis, and the C++ broker and client now implement producer flow control which allows a broker to stop clients from overwhelming it with messages. There are also Maven artifacts available for the Java Qpid client. For a full list of new features and bugs fixed in the release, refer to the release notes. The developers recommend that existing users upgrade to 0.10 as soon as possible.

An FAQ, general documentation and 0.10 specific documentation are available, along with a getting started guide. Qpid is available from various mirrors via the project's download page. Apache Qpid is licensed under the Apache 2.0 licence.
