Apache Software Foundation announces new Executive Officers
The Apache Software Foundation (ASF) has announced that it held elections for the Foundation's Executive Officers, who will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the foundation, during its September 11th board meeting. The non-profit Foundation supports the Apache community's development of some of the most well-known open source projects, such as the ASF's first project, the Apache HTTP Web Server, Tomcat and Hadoop.
The new officers, many of which are past and present ASF board members, will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Foundation in specific roles. Effective immediately, Doug Cutting will act as the ASF Chairman, while former Chairman Jim Jagielski becomes the organisation's President and Greg Stein will serve as Vice Chairman. Google's Noirin Shirley is the new Executive Vice President, Geir Magnusson Jr will take the role of Treasurer and Craig Russell has been selected as the new ASF Secretary, assisted by IBM's Sam Ruby.
