The Apache MINA developers have released version 1.0.0 of Apache FtpServer, a pure Java FTP server implementation that can run stand-alone, or be embedded into applications. Apache MINA is a project developing a high performance, high scalability network application framework, and the FtpServer is built using the MINA technology.

Apache FtpServer supports virtual directories, upload/download bandwidth limitation, resume for interrupted uploads and downloads, IP blocking, customisable FTP messages, SSL/TLS support and anonymous logins. It also introduces the concept of Ftplets, which respond to FTP event notifications is a similar fashion to the way Servlets respond to HTTP requests. For embedding purposes, Apache FtpServer has support for integration within Spring and the releases are provided as OSGi bundles. In stand-alone mode, FtpServer can be run as a Windows server, or as a Linux/Unix daemon.
