Amarok Logo The Amarok Project developers have announced the release of version 2.2.2 of their popular open source music player for the KDE desktop, code named "Maya Gold". The developers say that, in addition to focusing on user interface improvements and bug fixes, the latest release also includes several new features.

Amarok 2.2.2 features a completely rewritten Moodbar that visually shows the "mood" of a track, the return of Custom Labels to allow users to personalise their music and improved lyrics editing. Additionally, improvements to the podcasts section include the ability to import subscriptions from Outline Processor Markup Language (OPML), automatic logo downloading for each subscription and better podcast grouping. The developers note that the latest release now requires KDE 4.3.x and Qt 4.5.

More details about the release, including a full list of changes and bug fixes, can be found in the official release announcement. Amarok 2.2.2 is available to download from the project's website and a user guide is also provided. Amarok is licensed under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
