Six weeks after the release of Amarok 2.2, the Amarok Project developers have announced the availability of version 2.2.1 of their popular open source music player for the KDE desktop. The latest release includes a number of bug fixes, performance improvements and new features.

In addition to "polishing existing features", Amarok 2.2.1 features improved podcast handling. Users can now manually mark podcasts as new, or group podcasts together. Podcasts now automatically update themselves and display emblems to show their status. Other improvements include faster collection scanning and updates to play lists, such as a new keyboard shortcut (Ctrl-J) to move the cursor to the play list search box. The 2.2.1 update also introduces the Script Updater to check for updates to first-party scripts, making updating to new script releases much easier.

More details about the release, including a full list of changes and bug fixes, can be found in the official release announcement. Amarok 2.2.1 is available to download from the project's website and a user guide is also provided. Amarok is released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2).
