Alfresco has released enterprise version 2.2 of its content management software. The new Alfresco Enterprise release is designed specifically for developing online communities. It allows companies to develop an interactive web presence including forums, blogs and wikis around a product or service according to the "content as a service" principle. Among Alfresco's customers are entertainment industry giants like Electronic Arts, Activision and Sony Pictures Imageworks Interactive.

Alfresco Enterprise 2.2 is said to make relatively easy work of setting up complete web farms and scaling them to almost any desired size. In addition, preview and test options simplify the updating of web applications. Alfresco supports common programming languages and development environments like PHP, Ruby, Groovy, .NET, Struts and JSF.
