Alan Cox has announced that he is leaving Red Hat and moving "logically, at least" to Intel. He says he is leaving the company on good terms, and is leaving to spend more time, not with his family or gardening, but "to get even closer to the low level stuff that interests me most". In a press release published on LXer.com, Cox noted that he will still be working on Linux and free software.

On the subject of Red Hat's engineering team, Cox said "Red Hat has a solid, world class, engineering team and my departure will have no effect on their ability to deliver."

Heise online UK look forward to seeing what Cox will be working on at Intel.
