The search for a location for the KDE annual world summit Akademy 2012 is over. Tallinn, Estonia will be the venue for the event which will run from 30 June to 6 July 2012, according to the announcement by KDE e.V. The conference is jointly organised by the KDE e.V. and the host, the Estonian Information Technology College, which is located near to the Tehnopol Science and Business Park.

The KDE team is planning to announce a call for papers in early 2012 and asks those interested to "please check back regularly for updates" to the conference web site. The venue was proposed by Laur Mõtus, a local FLOSS advocate from Tallinn.

Akademy, which first took place in 1997, is the annual developer and user conference for the KDE desktop. Since 2009, Akademy has come together every two years with the GNOME developers, who host the GUADEC conference, to form the developer Desktop Summit, which last year was hosted in Berlin. 2012's Akademy will just be for the KDE community.
