Adobe has released an alpha version of Flash Player 10 for 64 bit Linux systems. The public pre-release of the player offers easier native installation of the Flash Player, and removes the 32 bit emulation used previously to allow the player to run.

The alpha release follows the release of Flash Player 10 for Windows, Mac OS X and 32 bit Linux in October. The release notes for 64 bit Linux Flash Player 10 are available, which notes that webcam and microphone functionality is not enabled and warns that the alpha release may cause problems with performance and stability.
