Adobe Logo Adobe has posted notification sign-up pages for Android beta versions of its upcoming Flash Player 10.1 and AIR products. Originally announced in February, Adobe's AIR for mobile devices is based on Flash Player 10.1, which the company says is optimised "for high performance on mobile devices".

Users interested in trying the Flash Player 10.1 Beta for Android and AIR for Android Beta can register for email notification of the start of beta testing. Registration requires an Adobe membership.

According to Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, versions of Flash for Android, the Palm WebOS and RIM's BlackBerry will arrive in the second half of 2010. Android phones that currently ship with Flash built-in include the popular HTC Hero (AKA the T-Mobile G2 Touch), the HTC Legend and the HTC Desire – all of which feature HTC's Sense UI.

However, Adobe has not confirmed which version of Android – version 2.1 is the latest release – will be required to run AIR and the Flash Player. A specific public beta release date has yet to be confirmed.
