Sometimes, when a developer looks at a site, the first thing on their mind is "How did they do that?" followed by "I haven't got take time to look at all the source". Mark Lucovsky of Google knows that; after Google put their 2008 US Elections site online, he saw a lot of people asking how the Google engineers packed in so much information into one compact panel.

Lucovsky set out to help people with a blog posting which is a small masterclass on how they constructed the panel, covering each of the tabs, where they get the content from and pointers to Google resources for developers who want to create similar page elements. It is a useful read for anyone wanting to mashup search data.
