A Faster Fox - Fennec Alpha 2 arrives

Trying Fennec Alpha 2 on Mac OS X Fennec alpha 2, the Mozilla mobile browser, has been released for testing purposes. The update to the smaller fox, includes faster panning and zooming, better responsiveness when pages are being loaded, hooks for extension authors and look and feel improvements. Fennec is available for the Nokia N810 Internet tablet, but there are also demonstration versions available for Windows,OSX and Linux (note – all three preceding links are to download compressed files).

Taking the demonstration version out for a run on OS X we found the alpha 2 was more responsive as promised and the user interface was richer, without crowding the display with controls, a flaw of many mobile applications. We are looking forward to testing Fennec on a mobile internet device soon.
