The 2009 Open World Forum (OWF) will take place on the 1st and 2nd of October at the Eurosite George V convention centre in Paris. The banner for the forum is "FLOSS: AT THE HEART OF THE DIGITAL RECOVERY" and it promotes free, libre and open source software (FLOSS) as a path to economic regrowth.

The OWF is held in partnership with the Open Source Think Tank and this year expects 160 speakers from 20 countries and an international audience of 1,600. The Open Source Think Tank conference is a by-invitation-only event that took place in March in Napa, California.

In addition to the main forum events OWF will play host to five major events; a FLOSS Community Summit, an Open CIO Summit, a FLOSS Competence Centres Summit, A FLOSS Politics Summit and an Open Innovation Summit. At last years OWF, held in December, the FLOSS Observatory created a roadmap for open source looking forward to 2020 and examining the trends and themes which participants believed would have an impact over the coming decade. The Roadmap is to be updated after this year's OWF.

Sponsors for the OWF include Bull, Intel, Sun Microsystems, Accenture, Qualcomm, Google, Red Hat and Mandriva.

Registration for the 2009 OWF is open and is free of charge and the organisers have invited submissions for presentations.
