Oracle knew what they were doing when they bought Sun. They're not
stupid.

With such a hefty price tag, they are actually going to slow the
adoption of ODF. And they did this on purpose. Oracle Corporation
knows what it is doing, and they came prepared with a plan, i.e. to
destroy open source and freedom software. This makes sense as their
core technologies have never been open source.

The way all this can fit is if Microsoft and Oracle have a
behind-the-scenes partnership, the kind where "You scratch my back,
and I will scratch yours".

So Microsoft gets their dirty work done through other channels while
appearing clean to any anti-trust lawsuits. Brilliant.

Oracle could have easily open-sourced the code to the FOSS community
if had no interest in funding it's development. But they have chosen
to suffocate the project and kill it.

Ultimately the plugin will be discontinued, and I am afraid this is
only the beginning. We will soon see MySQL, OpenSolaris, OpenOffice
and other wonderful projects die out, or atleast the reputation that
they have built up over the years will be destroyed. Reputation is
much more harder to build up than forked code. Alas! a major setback
to FOSS with corporates' help, again.
