No it isn't, unless you have a quad-core CPU .
A Conroe E6600 can en/decrypt roughly 175MB/s,
a sandforce-SSD can handle about 270 MB/s
"Previous versions used their own, proprietary mechanism"
Wrong, TrueCrypt is a open-source application .
"Open Source" and "proprietary" are mutually exclusive .
