You cannot be serious. Asking strangers for money for no reason is
not a viable business model - it's called "begging".  Granted what
rms and Souble did was a clever way of begging, but it is still
charity.  No different from the guy standing on the off-ramp holding
up a cardboard sign which says "spare change, god bless".  Nothing
wrong with being a beggar, but let's call a spade a spade.

The article never does address why making money from software matters
- it matters because it attracts talent, innovation, and capital. 
Which in turn drives the growth of products that deliver value,
expand markets, and advances technology.  Sorry folks, but the FOSS
movement is driving investment *away* from the software field. Oh,
here's a good idea - let's destroy the music and film industries
while we're at it.
