The H Community Calendar presents the coming month's events in various open source, development, Linux, Unix and other communities, from multi-day conferences to user group get-togethers.

6 October - PHP - London SE1

Who: PHP London
What: "PHP PubCon" – a regular monthly meeting to exchange ideas and talk about code, architecture, innovation, and open source in general.

6 October - Perl - London W2

Who: London Perl Mongers
What: London.pm Social – regular monthly social meeting.
Cost: Free / (no registration necessary)

6-7 October - Android - London N1

Who: Droidcon
What: Droidcon 2011 – the UK's largest conference talking exclusively about Android development and applications. The first day is community-led with a full day Barcamp and democamp, the second day is a conference day with Android experts presenting on the latest applications and usage of the mobile platform

6-9 October - BSD - Maarssen, The Netherlands

Who: EuroBSDCon
What: EuroBSDcon 2011 – this year marks the 10th anniversary of EuroBSDCon, the technical conference for people working on and with 4.4BSD based operating systems and related projects. The two-day conference (8-9 Oct) will be preceded by two days of tutorials (6-7 Oct)

8 October - FLOSS - Manchester

Who: FLOSS UK
What: Unconference 2011 – a one-day unconference where everything that happens is organised by the delegates on the day.

10 October - Ruby - London EC1V

Who: London Ruby User Group
What: LRUG Battleship: Ruby Fight Club – at this month's meeting Paul Battley is going to host the group in a Battleships tournament using the battleships game engine he has written.

11 October - Scala - London EC2R

What: Talk – David Pollak, the Lift project creator, will explore Lift and how Lift apps are different.

Who: Big Data London
What: 5th Big Data London meetup – regular monthly meetup.

12 October - Linux - Reading

Who: Silicon Corridor Linux User Group
What: A regular social evening for Linux users in the Reading area.
Cost: Free (no registration necessary)

13 October - Scala - London EC2R

Who: London Scala Users' Group
What: Talk – an informal session with Timothy Perrett (author of Lift in Action) demonstrating his latest project, Scala Helix, a central directory of all the projects within the Scala ecosystem.

15 October - Barcamp - Blackpool

Who: Barcamp Blackpool
What: Barcamp Blackpool – an unconference with no scheduled speakers. Attendees arrive on the day, many armed with talks, and they decide which ones they want to go along to from a dynamically created schedule. The talks can be on anything, from android application development to learning the British Sign Language to Electronic Organs played by BBC Micros. The H is a sponsor of Barcamp Blackpool.

What: Open Source Software Meets Open Source Hardware – Jeremy Bennett of Embecosm will give a presentation on Open Source Software Meets Open Source Hardware: OpenCores and the OpenRISC 1000 architecture .

What: Open Source Hardware Camp – a day of hands-on hacking with electronics, 3D-printers open to anyone with an interest in technology; an opportunity to meet, experiment and collaborate with people representing several interesting Open Source Hardware projects.
