The H Community Calendar presents the coming month's events in various open source, development, Linux, Unix and other communities, from multi-day conferences to user group get-togethers.

PHP "PubCon" – regular monthly social meeting

1st 1 November - Women in technology - London EC2A

Who: London Java Community
What:
Women in technology – "The Problem With Women: A Technical Approach", Trisha Gee looks at why the attempts to address the gender balance have failed. The session is interactive and open to all.

3rd to 4th 3-4 November - Internet of Things - Liverpool

What:
Internet of Things Howduino – a weekend of exploring, experimenting, collaborating and learning about the Internet of Things.

7th to 9th 7-9 November - oVirt - Barcelona, Spain

Who: oVirt Project
What: oVirt Workshop – a three day workshop, co-located with KVM Forum 2012 at LinuxCon Europe, where attendees can find out about the project's technical background and direction, meet the developers behind oVirt, and learn from hands-on labs and demos.
Cost: $100 (student), $450 (standard), first 200 free / Register


8th 8 November - Perl - London

What:
London.pm Social – regular monthly social meeting.

8th to 11th 9-11 November - Mozilla - London SE10

Who: Mozilla
What:
2012 Mozilla Festival – This year's theme is "Making, Freedom and the Web". A long weekend with five goals: to make, learn, imagine, design and fuel. More details are available on the wiki.

12th 12 November - Ruby - London EC1V

Who: London Ruby User Group
What:
Regular monthly meetup – after "An introduction to Rubymotion: Writing iOS apps with Ruby" from Andrew Nesbitt and "Background processing in Ruby (and Rails)" from Khash Sajadi, the meetup will continue in informal fashion in the pub.

What:

15 November - Hardware - London E1

Event #22 Embedded – the 22nd OSHUG meeting will include three talks about how Erlang can be used to bring concurrency to multi-core embedded systems, how the Parallella project aims to make parallel computing accessible to everyone, and about vital research into optimising compiler options for energy-efficiency.

Who: European Journalism Centre and the Open Knowledge Foundation
