What: "Substantial desktop applications - The NetBeans platform" - Wielenga is a technical writer and NetBeans developer at Oracle and will be presenting a talk on the NetBeans Platform as the framework that underlies the NetBeans IDE and many desktop applications.

What: Monthly meeting - Hoodlums hold "Coding Dojo" styled events where Haskell developers pick a problem and work as a group to solve it.

August 23-27 - Drupal - Copenhagen, Denmark
Who: The Drupal Association and broader community
What: DrupalCon Copenhagen, the annual European gathering for Drupalistas - Rasmus Lerdorf, author of the original PHP scripting language, will be joining Drupal Founder, Dries Buytaert as a keynote speaker at the conference. Author and developer Jeremy Keith, will also be presenting on HTML5. All other presentations have been voted on by members of the Drupal Community. The main venue will also be set aside for an Open Source "unconference"/bar camp on 23 August.

New August 28th - Ubuntu - Manchester
Who: MadLab, HacMan, Manchester Linux Users Group and others
What: U3 - Ubuntu and Upstream UnWorkshop Day. A day of collaboratively organised talks and workshops which will focus on Ubuntu and upstream projects such as Debian, GNOME and KDE. Topics will include how to report, track and fix bugs, how to test new releases and other ways to contribute to Linux development.
