Looking forward

The next major update to Firefox has tentatively been set as version "3.6" (Namoroka), however, the version number is not final and could still change. Also refereed to as Firefox.next, Namoroka will include a new tab switching behaviour, preliminary SVG animation support and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Multiple Backgrounds support.

In the middle of April, the developers were discussing dropping support for Windows 2000 because it's no longer being sold and its official support ends in July of 2010, however, no official Firefox support details have been confirmed. According to the Mozilla Wiki in May, future versions of Firefox may also use separate processes for the browser user interface and the handling of web page content, to greatly improve performance and stability. Firefox 3.6 is expected to be released in early to mid 2010.

Firefox binaries are released under the Mozilla Firefox End-User Software License Agreement and the source code is released under disjunctive tri-licensing that includes the Mozilla Public Licence, GPLv2 and LGPLv2.1.
